In keeping with our small skills workshop theme….we are happy to announce the next one!! This workshop will focus on lace knitting – there is no reason to be afraid! We will all start the Artesian Shawl together. This a great one skein starter pattern. Our sample is done in the deliciously slinky Anzula Milky Way but you can use anything in the right weight! The pattern has three size options and we have chosen a fingering weight yarn for our sample as it is a gentle step into the lace world. The pattern is comprised of knit stitches with yarn overs (a biggee in lace knitting) and incorporates a little bit of short-rows. We will take the time to demonstrate and practice each of the stitches used in this pattern, discuss how to read a chart, go over both the chart and written pattern details, talk about how to block lace, and a few other general lace tips and tricks and get you comfortable tackling another new skill. There will be a second class session to review all the techniques and address any questions that you may have – as well as show off your Artesians! Catherine Paul will be teaching this workshop and the class materials include a copy of the Artesian pattern and Mom’s light refreshments! Skills required: - cast on - knit, yarn-overs and short-rows Materials: Small shawl (Medium, Large): - #3 - #5 32” lace tip circular needles (the pointy tips make life much easier) depending on your yarn we will help you choose the correct needle - 385 (425, 500) yds fingering yarn (sock or heavy lace wgt will also be fine and we will certainly help you pick the right yarn for you!) Class size is limited so sign up early to secure your spot! Date: Sunday February 14th, 2016 and Sunday March 6th Time: 2:00pm to 4:00pm Cost: $28
