ERROR FIXING WORKSHOP 2016 In keeping with our small skills workshop theme….we are happy to announce a repeat performance of a shop favorite!! This workshop will teach some basics for recognizing and dealing with mistakes, addressing how to correct some mistakes and how to fudge others. We will begin with reading the stitches on the needle, to start to see whether things have gone right or gone wrong—and if things have gone wrong, to identify problems. We will discuss basic stitch orientation in stockinette and garter stitch, and the appearance of simple lace stitches, and how to “unknit”. We will practice picking up dropped stitches in stockinette and garter, dealing with split stitches, adding a life-line after the fact, and ripping back. We address an array of strategies for adding a missed stitch and compensating for an extra stitch. If time allows, we will have a question and answer session on other problems. Directions for three small homework swatches (to be worked ahead of time in a light-colored worsted-weight or larger wool yarn) will be sent to you, and these swatches should be brought along to the class. Catherine Paul will be teaching this workshop and the class materials include a summary of the new skills and Mom’s light refreshments!
