The Spring 2019 KAL is Baubles by Andrea Mowry of Drea Knits. She is a prolific and fun designer. While best known for her “fade knitting” of color movement and blending, this pattern highlights some fun techniques while still playing with color. The pattern uses stockinette stripes, some easy lace techniques and 2-color brioche with color swaps and brioche baubles. Sounds like scary brioche – but its not! Baubles pattern also lends itself nicely to The NeedleTree being able to offer a unique and All Local Kit!! The pattern calls for three colors of fingering weight yarn. Solids, tonals, variegated and speckled can all play nicely with this pattern. We have teamed up with our local dyers, Yarn Experiments and Old Soul Fibers, to package several 4 skein combos that work specifically for the Baubles pattern. The kits will also include a progress marker selected for each color combo from local artist Chocolate Otter. You are also free to use stash yarns or I am happy to help you build a kit from any yarn you want to use. K.T. will be leading this KAL. In the first KAL meeting K.T. will review the pattern lay-out, a brioche refresher and the stitch techniques in the pattern. The second meeting will be to review any issues, and focus on the brioche skills in the last shawl section as well as any questions or demo refreshers. Class materials include the Baubles Shawl pattern, a summary of the skills and Mom’s light refreshments!
