THE BIRD HAT STRANDED KNITTING WORKSHOP At The NeedleTree In keeping with our small skills workshop theme….we are happy to announce our next stranding workshop!! The workshop will focus on stranded knitting, also referred to as Fair Isle. This advanced beginner class will use an elegant bird hat motif to get you comfortable with basic stranding. The hat is a beautiful knit and we did our sample in cashmere as we think this hat just wants a fiber as elegant as the design, but any fiber would be lovely! For those experienced with stranded knitting in worsted and aran weight yarns – perhaps from our Whale Hat or Baa-able Hat classes – and looking for the next step, this class would be perfect, as the pattern uses fingering or light sport weight yarn and smaller needles. We will also review chart reading. Catherine Paul will be teaching this workshop and the class materials include a Passerine Hat pattern, a summary of the skills, and Mom’s light refreshments! Skills required: - cast on - knit and purl - simple chart following - attendance at our Intro to Stranding (Whale or Baa-able Hat Class) or comparable experience Materials for workshop: - 160 yds main color and 60 yds contrast color fingering wgt yarn (we have some good cashmere combos on hand) - #2 16” circular needle - #3 16” circular needle - #3 DPN or 32” circular IF comfortable with magic loop Class size is limited so sign up early to secure your spot! Date: Sunday June 4th, 2017 Time: 2:00pm to 4:00pm Cost: $20
