In this intermediate skills workshop we are going to tackle the lateral braid design element and learn beading, which is actually very fun. The Faberge is a three section wrap featuring differing techniques and each separated with a lateral braid. The skills portion of this workshop will cover the technique of the lateral braid as well as basic beading. This pattern includes a design swatch allowing you to play with your color options and bead choices and is a small enough piece that you can practice the skills in a piece small enough to remember what you learned! The pattern also has instructions for three different sizes of wrap.
I will provide some sample beads in assorted colors for you to play with as well as two different dental flosses to practice our preferred method of beading. Our shop sample Faberge is done in Anzula Cloud and Malabrigo Sock but you can use any contrasting two color combo you like! Perfect time to dive into those gorgeous single skeins of fingering you’ve been hoarding!
K.T. will be teaching this workshop. Class materials include a Faberge pattern, a summary of the skills, sample beads, a few dental floss beading tools and Mom’s light refreshments!
Skills required:
- cast on
- knit and purl
- simple increases, decreases and slips
Materials for workshop:
- 420-825 yds of two colors fingering weight (yardage will depend on the size you want)
- #6 40” needle
- #5 24” or longer needle
- ring markers
